Electrical Apprenticeships

Interested in becoming an electrical apprentice?

At AKD we take on an average of 4 new apprentices per year, which is above the normal intake in our industry. We love to help our apprentices grow in the company, with opportunities to progress up the career ladder and develop into a certified electrician. We offer all the support and practical guidance required.

If you would like to apply to become an apprentice with AKD, we would encourage you to sit and pass the SECTT aptitude test. You can find all the details about this below.

We do things a little differently here, in that we have a policy of only selecting candidates who have attended a pre-apprenticeship course at a local college. After this is complete, we would give the apprentice at least one year of practical ‘on the tools’ experience before sending the student to the next available college intake. This process ensures you have the right skills to get the most out of the course. Not everyone works this way but we feel this approach has a proven success record at AKD.

If you do have any other questions, you will be sure to find the answers on the SECTT website – but please feel free to get in touch if not.
